The Leftovers magazine is committed to raising awareness about the issue of food waste and provi-ding readers with actio-nable steps they can take to reduce waste in their own lives. Food waste is a serious problem that has far-reaching environmental, economic, and social consequences.
When it comes to food waste, young people are the ones who throw away the most. 18-25 year olds are less vigilant than their elders. They throw away 2 to 3 times more food than the over 65s. But they're not children any more, so they don't need to be supervised.
The magazine is aimed at this young, Western population. The collages visuals used are gritty, ironic. Bold headlines, food pushed to the extreme, colours too saturated to be food, the magazine disgusts about waste but doesn't make you feel guilty.
